Adults and children who enjoy challenging pursuits won’t be disappointed either…. there are a number of activity centres in the region where you can enjoy a variety of watersports, archery, clay pigeon shooting, zip wires, laser games and much more … and then of course we have the quiet roads for cycling and the renowned 7stanes world-class mountain biking centres, along with walks and trails to suit all abilities, fantastic lochs and rivers for fishing, award winning golf courses, and of course our dark skies, so if you simply love star-gazing, then you are in the right place!

CYCLING
With over 400 miles of signposted cycle routes and quiet country roads, Dumfries & Galloway is ideal for cyclists of all abilities.
This year again we welcome the Tour of Britain to our region – the last time was 2016 – but has been a regular fixture on the route of Britain’s most prestigious cycle race, having hosted stages on nine previous occasions, with winners including Mark Cavendish (2011 and 2012), Edvald Boasson Hagen (2008 and 2009) and Elia Viviani (2015).
MOUNTAIN BIKING
The 7stanes are world-class mountain biking centres that span the south of Scotland. Their award-winning trails offer some of the best mountain biking in the country and attract riders from all over the UK and beyond.
